I was refused to write an About Page of myself, but I ended up being convinced by some of the blogs I usually read.

My name is Alfredo Vaamonde (Alfred V., aka Asswass). I’m from Caracas Venezuela but I was born in Hollywood, Florida. I moved from the United States 2 years after I was born and I’ve been living here ever since.

Two years ago I began reading some “make money online” blogs and I the internet business started to grow on me. I talked with some friends about building a website and we all chipped in around $5.000 overall. We hired a web programmer and starting working on our project.

On May 4th 2.009 we launched a Hiburrito and this blog. I already knew from the begging that I was going to need a blog to help promote Hiburrito and to personalize our business by creating a bloggers community and building a relationship with any blogger that came to visit us.

I divide my time between managing the family business, by managing Hiburrito and by writing on this blog. I really enjoy everything I do so I really organize myself and avoid being tangled up between all my responsibilities.

Venezuela’s political and economic situation is going through some rough times. That is why my associates and I are working so hard with Hiburrito to find some investors and export our company to pretty much every part of the world. That’s the cool thing of this business. You can run a Dot Com business from anywhere in the world. But since I’m American, we are pretty sure that we will be moving to the US.

I want to tell you guys something about Venezuela. We currently have a currency control. This means that we can’t buy any currency of the world without the government’s permission. This ended up creating a parallel currency in the black market. So if you want to buy dollars, you need to buy them in the black market.

Our Controlled Currency: $1 = BsF. 2,15

Black Market: $1 = BsF. 7

As you can see, if we want to travel or buy something on Amazon, we need to buy the money in the black market at BsF. 7 per $. Since we are going through an economic crisis, the government is not approving dollars like they used to. So the businesses that can’t receive dollars from the government are acquiring dollars from the black market, making everything so expensive that you can’t even buy a car without paying twice its price. The problem is that our salaries are calculated at BsF. 2,15 not at BsF 7.

If you want to travel, you’ll receive $2.500 a year if you’re going to Europe and for 1 month. If you want to go to anywhere in America you’ll receive much less.

I’m telling you guys this story for you to understand how our business is completely screwed by this measures. Since our income is in dollars, we need to change those dollars at an exchange rate of BsF 2,15 per dollar. This means that we are losing more than half of what we are earning.
